The Victorian High Country

  Dates:-

Saturday February 28th – Friday 13th March 2009
The trip will start from the rear car park of the Shell service station at Tailem Bend.
Be ready to leave at 0830 hrs on the 28th.

Trip Leader:-

David Read

General Notes:-

Limit of 8 Vehicles

This is NOT a training trip to discover what you or your vehicle can or cannot do.

Because some of the tracks may be steep, shaley, heavily rutted and possibly muddy, participants must have had considerable 4wdriving experience.

 Preamble:-

We will be traveling about 3,000 km overall.
Apart from the transit runs there and back, this is not a hard-driving trip.
We will be using Dargo and Omeo as bases, so trailers and campers will be ok

Draft itenary here (MSWord Doc)

 Terrain:-

As already indicated, once we get on the dirt, the going can be steep, rocky, slow and possibly slippery, depending on rainfall
It can rain heavily at this time of the year, however, it can also be dusty.
There are two major river crossings – one shallow and the other normally up to axle depth.
All minor creek crossings are shallow unless there is major rain.
